Earlier this week SPIN premiered The Juan MacLean remix of Superhuman Happiness and Cults’ collaborative rendition of Caetano Veloso’s “Um Canto De Afoxé Para O Bloco De Ilê (Ilê Ayê).” Click HERE to stream the remix (please post & share!).  The original recording was first released on the 2011’s AIDS benefit Red Hot + Rio 2. It’s the latest in a flurry of activity around Superhuman Happiness first full-length album, Hands, due March 5, 2013 from The Royal Potato Family.

Handswas cultivated through a shared method of composition in order to make something greater than any one individual,” says bandleader Stuart Bogie.  “Each song’s conception was derived from a clapping game at the start of a rehearsal. The exercises were to get the group-mind thinking together, to get our instincts moving together, to play music without thinking. We wanted to follow our instincts, like a basketball team or an improv troupe.”

That same concept carries over to Superhuman Happiness’ live performances, which first took root at the famed Brooklyn venue, Zebulon, where the band first became known for ecstatic dance parties that led to extended improvisations of their songs. The process is illustrated in the new live video for “I Can Hear You Calling,” from the forthcoming documentary film, I Can Hear You Calling: A Musical Community in New York City.  This video, which just premiered on POPMATTERS can also be found HERE.  The studio version of the song is the second track on Hands.

Superhuman Happiness sound has been dubbed "physical cinematic dance music," In addition to Stuart Bogie, the band includes guitarists Luke O'Malley and Ryan Ferreira, bassist and vocalist Nikhil Yerawadekar, keyboardists and vocalists Jared Samuel and Eric Biondo and drummer Miles Arntzen. The band plays a sold out show tonight at Bowery Ballroom in New York City with Red Baraat.
