Highasakite Return to the US in May to Join Of Monsters and Men for Short North American, EU and UK Treks
New York, NY – Norway’s Highasakite is returning to the US this spring to join Of Monsters and Men for short North American, EU and UK treks.The band has been touring nearly non-stop since the spring 2014 release of their critically acclaimed US debut album Silent Treatment – which has spent the past 58 weeks on the Norwegian Top 40 Album Chart making it Norway’s longest charting album since 1997. The short upcoming run with Of Monsters and Men is Highasakite’s first stateside tour in a year.
Highasakite – Ingrid Helene Håvik (zither, steel drum, vocal), Trond Bersu (drums), Øystein Skar (synths), Marte Eberson (synths), and Kristoffer Lo (guitar) – releasedSilent Treatment in the US on Propeller Recordings/InKind Music on April 8th and last spring they went out as main support for London Grammar on their big North American headlining tour. Highasakite also played several noteworthy and highly touted 2014 SXSW performances and did a short May 2014 headlining run before heading to both Europe and Australia for several successful tours and festivals including Australia’s Laneways Festival and a seminal home country main stage appearance at Øya Festival. In January the band announced that they are planning their first “arena concert” at Trondheim’s 10,000 capacity Sverresborg Arena in the August of 2015.
As for Silent Treatment, in addition to its incredibly long run in the Norwegian Top 40 charts, the record picked up several awards, including two Norwegian Grammys (Best Pop Album, Best Composition), two GAFFA awards (Norway’s biggest music magazine) and a nomination for the IMPALA awards’ “Best Independent European Album Of The Year.” Silent Treatment was also the most played album of 2014 on both Wimp and Spotify streaming services in Norway. International success included appearances on Triple J’s “Hottest 100” and NPR Music’s “Favorite Songs of 2014.”
