April 8th, 2013 - New York, NY - Danish-born, Los Angeles-based duo Quadron, which is vocalist Coco O. and multi-instrumentalist/producer Robin Hannibal, have revealed that their upcoming new album will be entitled Avalanche. A funky, soulful affair characterized by Coco's shimmering voice and Robin's meticulous, modern production, Avalanche will be released on June 4th by Vested in Culture/Epic Records. It is available for pre-order via Quadron's website (www.quadronmusic.com) on May 1st and via iTunes on May 7th. Those who pre-order on iTunes will receive the album track "Favorite Star" as an instant download.
The video for the first single, "Hey Love," premieres today with The Fader followed by its debut on VEVO. (available for posting HERE.) The track, which has already been featured prominently in a recent episode of ABC's Grey's Anatomy, was also heard in the season finale of VH1's of Mob Wives, which aired last night.
Coco O. of Quadron will be included on the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's all-star remake of The Great Gatsby, which hits theaters May 10th, on "Where the Wind Blows," written and produced by Andrea Martin. The soundtrack, which will be released May 7th, also features music by Beyoncé and Andre 3000, Lady Gaga, Fergie, Lana Del Rey, and Jay-Z, who also serves as executive producer.
A collaboration with British producer Fraser T Smith (Adele, Florence and the Machine), "Hey Love" has racked up favorable reviews since its March 5th release. Entertainment Weekly included it on its "Must List" saying "It's no wonder the likes of Jay-Z and Adele are such fans of the Danish dance-pop duo. Their new single "combines soulful vocals with a sleek, snaking groove that's got us saying 'hey' right back at them." Billboard notes that they've returned with a "bouncy, radio-ready pop tune," while Pitchfork calls "Hey Love" a "pop-friendly tapestry of busy beats and pounding piano," adding that "Coco delivers an agile, complementary performance; when she takes over the song in its final minute, it's a display of both vocal power and chemistry."
Music tastemakers have weighed in, including producer Mark Ronson, who says "they're dope as hell!", British soul singer Jessie Ware, who says "Coco is the most perfect singer," and The Cool Kids' Chuck English, who name-checks Quadron as his "favorite group. Period. As far as new music goes, there's nothing better." Odd Future's The Internet credits Quadron with "changing my entire outlook on music and where you can go with it," while the hip-hop collective's leader, Tyler, The Creator, says, "Coco O. has the voice of an actual angel." Coco joined Tyler, The Creator and The Roots on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to perform their collaboration "TreeHome" in March. Watch it here.
