GAMBLES SHARES "SAFE SIDE" VIA STEREOGUM

Matthew Daniel Siskin began writing songs as Gambles in August 2012 with no goal or motive other than the past few years needed addressing, and things that had gone unsaid for too long needed saying. The first song he released publicly was "Trust", a song that was sang in a single take at the Rare Book Room, and with no words written. Gambles has since returned to the Rare Book Room to record additional songs including "Safe Side", which he has shared in celebration of his upcoming tour with The Maccabees (scroll down for dates). 

Speaking on the inspiration and creative process that birthed "Safe Side", Matthew said, "I think most people can relate to that sort of deep dark confusion two people get into towards the end of something...you mean well, but you'll probably do the worst thing possible too. I'd written the words a year or so ago, when I was living them, and then a week ago I found them and sang them."
