Moog Music Presents the Next Installment of
Moog Sound Lab with Diamond Rings
As Featured on Brooklyn Vegan
Premiering on Brooklyn Vegan is synth-pop purveyor Diamond Rings’ live performance in The Moog Sound Lab. Diamond Rings, aka John O' Regan, was a long way from Toronto when he stepped into the Moog Sound Lab, but he made himself right at home reshaping “Runaway Love” off of 2012’s Free Dimensional, released on Astralwerks. The androgynous glam star strays away from the up-tempo, euphoric dance cuts heard on his recent full-length to give way to an organic sound that is both raw and dreamy, thanks to an arsenal of Moog synthesizers.

O’Regan carries the song’s lead on a Moog Guitar played through an MF-104M Analog Delay.
Keyboardist Karl Skene does double duty commanding melodic lines from a Moog Little Phatty while using a Minimoog Voyager for ambient modulated sounds. Skene used Ableton Live software to trigger programmed bass lines from the Voyager stationed in front of guitarist Graham Van Pelt, who also played Moog Guitar through an MF-102 Ring Modulator, creating an expressive tremolo effect.
Greg Santilly laid down the drums, using a Trap Kat drum controller to trigger 100% analog percussion from 3 Minimoog Voyager RMEs.

The Moog Sound Lab is an original content media channel produced by Moog Music that invites artists and bands to perform in the Moog Music factory in Asheville, North Carolina. Armed with an unlimited supply of electronic instruments from Moog, musicians create a unique analog interpretation of their original material. The first half of the 2013 Moog Sound Lab series included Toro y Moi, Washed Out and Zola Jesus. For behind the scenes photos of Moog Sound Lab session, visit www.facebook.com/moogsoundlab.
Moog Music just announced its new partnership with Paxahau, the Detroit based producer of the Movement Electronic Music Festival and Detroit Jazzfest. The two companies are coming together to co-produce Moogfest 2014 taking place April 25 - 27, 2014 in Asheville, North Carolina. Moogfest is the annual festival created by Moog that celebrates the innovative spirit of its founder, Dr. Bob Moog. This is a special year for Bob Moog, as it was announced last week that he is being inducted into The Inventors Hall of Fame in May. The iconic synthesizer manufacturer has been quietly re-tooling its 9-year strong festival, including designing a new logo, to better reflect Moog’s culture of creativity, technology, and musical innovation. Past Moogfest performers include Keith Emerson, Orbital, Thomas Dolby, M83, Massive Attack, Tangerine Dream, Amon Tobin, St. Vincent, Richie Hawtin, Squarepusher, Bernie Worrell, Flying Lotus, The Flaming Lips, Terry Riley, Richard Devine, Roedelius, Hot Chip, and many others.
