BOOTBLACKS SHARE "HOLD & DISSOLVE" TRACK VIABLACKBOOK

'FRAGMENTS' OUT 9/14 VIA MANIC DEPRESSION RECORDS
LISTEN & SHARE: Bootblacks - "Hold & Dissolve"
https://soundcloud.com/bootblacks/hold-dissolve/s-TWFrv?
"could sit proudly amongst the trenchant, doomy psychedelia of Echo & The Bunnymen’s potent classic 'Heaven Up Here'" - BlackBook

“Direct sonic descendants of Xymox and Front Line Assembly” - BrooklynVegan
“Sounds like a skittering love letter to Bauhaus, Joy Divison, Depeche Mode and all the other bands that ultimately bridged the gaps between punk, post-punk, and new wave” - Nerdist
“Bootblacks, in other words, is this generation’s answer to Joy Divison, and likely the closest we’ll ever get to hearing another band play with the same intensity, emotion, and fearlessness as the iconic Manchester band.” - The Revue
Today, Brooklyn-based Bootblacks have shared the debut single from their forthcoming album via BlackBook. You can listen to "Hold & Dissolve" here. The band's Panther MacDonald explains that the track is about "knowing you have to leave people behind, and how hard that is. And even though letting go is difficult, you can both find the time to remember someone while remembering that it’s not over yet.” 'Fragments' is out 9/14 via Manic Depression Records.

Since the group's founding in 2010, Brooklyn-based Bootblacks have been enthralling audiences with their frenetic live shows from the U.S. to Europe. Their sounds has been described as a balance of contradictions: both pensive and buoyant, referential and modern. Fitting, as the Bootblacks name is derived from novelist William Burroughs' description of the dark underbelly of glitzy New York City.

Vocalist and frontman Panther MacDonald lists an eclectic set of influences: Depeche Mode, New Order, Simple Minds, Echo and the Bunnymen, Joy Division, Early U2, as well as The Beatles and David Bowie for lyrical inspiration.

Bootblacks released their first EP, Narrowed, in the fall of 2012. Recorded with Brian Scott Herman, after previously collaborating with Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds). MacDonald, guitarist Alli Gorman, and drummer Roger Humanbeing recount the collaboration with Sclavunos as a "life-changing" one that informs Bootblacks music to this day.

Panther describes Veins, Bootblacks album released in 2016, as a step in the band's evolution from punk to post-punk. With their influences always expanding, the band is never complacent in what makes up their sound.

With the addition of Barrett Hiatt (The Harrow I Automelodi) in early 2017, fans can expect an even more synth heavy, atmospheric and "bigger-sounding" Bootblacks than before, with the followup to Veins set for release in early fall 2017 on Manic Depression Records, followed by a European tour.

Continuing to build on the feverish momentum of their new album in • ter a • li • a, released May 5, 2017 on Rise Records, At The Drive In has proudly unveiled the new video for “Call Broken Arrow.”
Directed by Rob Shaw, “Call Broken Arrow” acts as the prequel to the video for “Hostage Stamps,” as it unfolds a story of previously seen prisoner and faceless captors—with an eerie appearance by mechanized spiders. Using the same intricate mix of digital and stop-motion animation, the video for “Call Broken Arrow” gives viewers a closer look behind the man’s reason for imprisonment, as Rob Shaw explains:
“In ‘Hostage Stamps,’ we have a prisoner being tortured and monitored by some sort of authoritarian organization. The guys wanted to show why he was imprisoned, as well as cast doubt over his innocence. It’s funny how in stories, especially film stories, you tend to sympathize with whoever you spend time with. When you watch someone being mistreated, the assumption is that person is the victim. ‘Call Broken Arrow’ is in part about illustrating the prisoner’s culpability, but even that is in doubt as we see the Watcher character who follows him around slipping something in his drink at the end.”
The striking animation featured in “Call Broken Arrow” utilized what Shaw describes as an “old film technique approach”—the team used rotating buildings, sliding clouds and in-camera practical effects to create an immersive world for the viewer. Experience it for yourself now: https://youtu.be/ljt4MFfgB7c

Grizzly Bear Releases New Video For "Mourning Sound" From 'Painted Ruins' Out This Week (8/18) via RCA

BAND TO PLAY "MOURNING SOUND" ON THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT ON THURSDAY 8/17, THEIR LATE NIGHT DEBUT FOR NEW ALBUM
"MOURNING SOUND" TOP 15 AT AAA RADIO
Grizzly Bear has released a new video for their song "Mourning Sound," the lead single from their forthcoming album 'Painted Ruins,' out this Friday, 8/18 via RCA Records. Directed by Beatrice Pegard and filmed in Paris, the video features Clemence Poesy (Harry Potter, In Bruges, 127 Hours) and is a playful, pastel-drenched commentary on women's liberation. Watch here and feel free to share:http://smarturl.it/MOURNINGSOUND

The band will perform "Mourning Sound" on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert this Thursday, 8/17, their late night debut for the new record. The song is currently in the top 15 at AAA radio.

'Painted Ruins' has earned widespread early praise from the New York Times, NPR Music and SPIN, who declared, "Grizzly Bear strike gold." Esquire called 'Painted Ruins'"their most mature album yet," Rolling Stone dubbed the music "ornate" and "spellbinding," and in their 9/10 review, Under the Radar said, "the album is the sound of a band cohering as never before with a formidable swagger." The album has earned 4/5 stars from Mojo and Q Magazine and 9/10 stars from Clash and Uncut, and Paste Quarterly declared, "Grizzly Bear made an album for the times: something wild and alive, bucking assumptions and beaming color, their best yet."

Boston psych-folk quartet Quilt's affinity for California folk legend F.J. McMahon goes beyond fandom. In June, the band backed McMahon for a performance of his only album, 1969's Spirit of the Golden Juice -- a freewheeling, mystical record written about McMahon's time serving in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam in the '60s -- and they also recorded a full album cover of the record. Turntable Kitchen's Sounds Delicious vinyl series will be exclusively releasing the cover album on September 1. The album's first single, "Black Night Woman," is streaming now on Turntable Kitchen.

Quilt's Spirit of the Golden Juice will feature the below artwork and will be limited to 1000 copies on vinyl only. Pre-orders are available now.

Hope Sandoval and The Warm Inventions have announced the release of their new EP Son of a Lady, which is out on September 15The 10" with an exclusive track along with other exclusive items will be available via Pledge Music.

The band says, "'Son of a Lady' is a song we wrote and recorded some time ago and rediscovered it recently by chance. We worked with this really great upright bass player Damon Anderson who we'd never worked with before and I believe it was the first time he'd ever played his bass over a cello part. He was really inspired by Ji-Young Moon's exquisite playing. It's a strange and lovely one; just the way we like it."

On 3rd November Tona Serenad records present This Forgotten Land by Matti Bye – one of Sweden’s most sought-after film composers, who also gained worldwide praise for his collaborative album with Anna von Hausswolff, Hydra’s Dream.

This Forgotten Land offers a deeply atmospheric, affecting experience, seeped in nostalgia and yet thrillingly contemporary. At its heart lie profoundly emotive, luminous melodies as substantial as the equipment that he uses to capture them, as Bye’s world is definitely an analogue one.

While its instrumental style might be said to share characteristics with the likes of Hauschka and Yann Tiersen, it also, like them, occupies its own unique musical universe, at once elegant and eerie.

Opening track Melt provides a clear indication of what’s to come, with its muffled tones, distant bells and a subdued sense of foreboding.  At other times – such as on Underneath The Silence – one can hear the influence of Debussy, and scattered throughout are hints, too, of Satie and Chopin at their most tranquil. On Absence, the creaking of Bye’s keyboard pedals is intrinsic to the atmosphere of his rippling, Southern European melody, while Into The Haze and Cascading Sun – with Leo Svensson’s haunting musical saw – and Empty Streets / Piano Street reveal his affection for circus music and other archaic styles. Bye speaks fondly of “the strange, romantic mood you get when you hear old merry go rounds, or mechanical instruments in small amusements parks, and abandoned places like Coney Island,” and the strange, incongruous sounds sometimes audible in the background are as essential to his compositions as the flutter of a film projector when watching an old film. In fact, though it’s very distinct, This Forgotten Land succeeds in conjuring up an idiosyncratic ambience whose power is similar to that of another of his great inspirations, Tom Waits’ Swordfishtrombones, albeit long after the greasepaint has been removed and the bars have emptied out.

Though Sweden’s Matti Bye was born in 1966, it sometimes seems as though the renowned musician and film soundtrack composer has spent his entire existence living in a different era. As a child, when he wasn’t passionately consuming literature, poetry, Schubert, Mozart, and avidly practising the piano – which he studied with an old Russian teacher – or dreaming of travelling the world in a horse-drawn caravan, he could be found in his local cinema in front of old black and white Tarzan films. These days, too, if you visit the old garage which doubles as his studio, you’ll find yourself surrounded by antique instruments: lurking alongside his collection of analogue synths are pianos, a celesta, a Mellotron, a Wurlitzer, a harpsichord, a Hammond organ, a Vibraphonette and tubular bells. Both Bye and his latest solo album seem to exist outside of time itself.

Until now, Bye has been best known as one of Sweden’s most prominent film composers, working on scores not only for contemporary but also vintage silent movies. In 2014 he received two of the three nominations for Best Original Music Award at Sweden’s prestigious Guldbaggen: his soundtrack for Faro took the honour (as well as a Nordic Film Music Prize) ahead of his work for The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window And Disappeared. He’s also provided new music for Victor Sjöström’s seminal horror The Phantom Carriage (1921) and The Saga of Gosta Berling (1924), a landmark melodrama starring Greta Garbo. He’s recorded a number of solo works, too, not least 2010’s Drömt and 2013’sBethanien, the latter inspired by a two-year sojourn in Berlin working in Kreuzberg’s cultural centre of the same name, once a hospital of suitably grim repute.  Collaborations with other musicians include the aforementioned Anna Von Hausswolff, and Maailma with cult Finnish songwriter Lau Nau. Another forthcoming project of note is Matti’s score to ‘Superswede’, the biopic of Swedish F1 racing legend Ronnie Peterson, which premieres in Stockholm on Monday August 14th and is on international release from Friday August 18th.

Bye was brought up by his mother, renowned Swedish actress Birgitta Andersson, while his father was Norwegian playwright Anders Bye. “I remember he once said, if you play an instrument you’ll never be alone,” Bye recalls. “That made a big impact on me.” Bye tried learning other instruments – violin, clarinet, contrabass – but it was always the piano to which he returned. “Nothing could compare,” he reminisces. “I wanted to sleep near my old piano. It was like a friend, if not so verbal, but still very communicative.” His professional ‘career’ began early on, but his first experience of providing a full score – when he was invited by his school’s Anarchist Club to accompany a screening of Battleship Potemkin – was less than successful. “The performance was terrifying, because I’d never improvised before,” he says. “But the thing was, even if it was a nightmare, after I’d tried it evoked a grand feeling of freedom! I’d got a taste of something I wanted to explore.”

When he was 20, Stockholm’s celebrated Cinematheque contacted Bye about performing again, and he couldn’t resist the opportunity to improve upon his debut. “Silent film music was like a blank spot on the music map, but I recognised the freedom I’d have as a musician, and the force of the poetry in these forgotten images. To play piano for these films was like a dream. So I started my own ‘university’ in the cinema, improvising directly in front of the film screen, trying new pieces and styles in front of a live audience. The beauty is that you feel the past through these beautiful films,” he says of the style that gradually developed in this environment, “but through the music you can add a new layer of something contemporary too.” As his reputation spread, Bye recognised that, thanks to the diversity of his interests, he’d stumbled on a singularly romantic style. “I started out as a piano improviser,” he says, “and suddenly I realised I was composing, and that I’m a composer.”

By the late 1990s, Bye had progressed from silent films to composing for new ones, including documentaries. His own, parallel recordings, compositions, collaborations and solo concerts followed soon after. “Sometimes material I haven’t used in a film starts to form a record, or I make a record that ends up in a film,” he explains, and there is indeed an obviousfil rouge through all his compositions: the instruments with which he works, often employed in an idiosyncratic manner. “I always search for pianos with a unique character,” he says. “I love to play them in special environments outside, in an abandoned place or a flat somewhere. I try to record the moment. The best pieces I create start with an instrument that has flaws or weaknesses. It’s like exploring the voice of various distinct personalities.”

Three decades on from that revelatory experience at Cinematheque, This Forgotten Land looks set to expand Bye’s reach. Peculiarly otherworldly, serenely haunting, and utterly unforgettable, its melodies linger long after its conclusion, their atmosphere a magical mist that can never quite be apprehended. Out of time, but just in time, it confirms Matti Bye as a vital composer of visionary, cinematic scope. This Forgotten Land will endure, in fact, because it sounds like it’s always been among us.

Tera Melos launch an extensive North American headlining tour with Speedy Ortiz supporting in October. Please see current dates below.

Trash Generator, the trio's third full length, is an astonishing blast of confidence and rejuvenation. It sounds as if the 4-year downtime since their last album has recharged the band with an entirely new sense of purpose. The performances are brilliant and sharp, the songs concise yet intricately detailed, and the album production deftly captures the band's strength as a live unit. Their dalliances with mellower psychedelic phrases on their previous two albums, X'ed Out (2013) and Patagonian Rats(2010) are significantly trimmed and instead utilized as colorations within a swirling maelstrom of righteous aggro punk-jazz abandon. As such, it sounds like Tera Melos has fully metabolized their pop tendencies and found a way they can coexist with the band's iconoclast origins. Tera Melos -- guitarist/vocalist Nick Reinhart, bassist Nathan Latona and drummer John Clardy -- have learned to stop worrying and just be Tera Melos.

Perhaps to understand Trash Generator, we must look at the situations leading up to it...

"We toured consistently for 19 months after X'ed Out was released in 2013," Latona explains. "We did two full US headliners, four full US support tours, a Japanese tour, a month in Europe, and a run of shows in the UK and Ireland. When we finished, we were pretty exhausted and frustrated." It had seemed that after all of that work, not much had changed for the band. Tera Melos took a short holiday break, which eventually turned into two years as each of them pursued other interests. "I found myself at ease with the idea of not worrying about ticket sales, strategic tours, units moved, likes, clicks, views, and the short-fused moodiness of living in a van with two other people," Latona says. In that downtime, Reinhart remained active in multiple endeavors: contributing guitar to Death GripsThe Powers That B and Bottomless Pit albums + the I.L.Y.'s (Zach Hill and Andy Morin's other band), Big Walnuts Yonder (with Mike WattNels Cline and Greg Saunier), Goblin Cock,Portugal.the man and many others. Latona completed a college degree he'd put off for 11 years. Clardy became and integral faculty member at the School of Rock in Dallas/Ft. Worth, inspiring young musicians with his real-world approach to learning music.

For every touring band there's a subtle pressure -- from fans, industry, promoters, family -- that the band is supposed to be on a constantly rising trajectory of success. Regardless of the group's own potentially esoteric goals, if you're not reaching for the "next level" at every turn, you're supposedly not doing it right. Tera Melos thought long and hard about it, and said, "fuck it."

"Wth this record it was 100% let's not concern ourselves with what we should be doing at this point in the band's lifespan, and just fully focus on what makes us happy," Reinhart says. "Making a new record seemed like a fun act of defiance," Latona adds. "The odds are against bands like us, but despite all the negativity involved in trying to struggle and survive as an artist, we made Trash Generator because we just wanted to get together, have some fun, and make something that we think is cool."

The trio decamped to San Diego in late 2016 to record at Singing Serpent Studios with Ben Moore (Hot SnakesPinback). It was their first time recording in a continuous block of time, rather than the piecemeal stealth late night sessions at friends' studios of previous efforts. It gave the band a razor-sharp focus atop of their beholden-to-none attitude. "We stayed in a spare place at Rob Crow's house which had a barracks kind of feel to it," Clardy explains. "We'd come home exhausted each day and fall asleep within an hour. It was very spartan when away from the studio." That mindset clearly informs the direct, in-your-face energy of Trash Generator

Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines illustrated 32-page book will be available this Friday from Sub Pop and Fantagraphics

2017 tour dates begin tonight in Portland, Oregon
at The Star Theatre
Shabazz Palaces’ defy expectation and convention once again by delivering a wonderfully surreal new video for “Shine a Light” (feat. Thaddillac) from Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star. The new visual, directed by Neil Ferron, tells the story of a half-human/half-goat baby that gets ritualistically sacrificed at a countryside, teenage wedding. The “Shine A Light” video poses the question,  “In these times, what is truly weird?! [watch here].”

Quazarz Born on a Gangster Star and Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines, the group’s third and fourth albums for 2017, are available now on CD / LP / DL / CS worldwide through Sub Pop.

Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines will also be available as a special-edition illustrated album: illustrated by cartoonist Joshua Ray Stephens this full-color, hand-numbered, 32-page book includes a download code for the full album. Joshua Ray Stephens worked directly with Shabazz Palaces to interpret the album track-by-track, creating a cohesive whole that synchronizes music and image. Printed in a large 11” x 17” format, with saddle-stitch binding, this limited-edition art piece further expands the ambitious universe of Quazarz and Shabazz Palaces. The illustrated album version of Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines will be released in collaboration with Fantagraphics Books, this Friday, August 18th.

LP purchases of Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star andQuazarz vs. The Jealous Machines frommegamart.subpop.com, select independent retailers, and at Shabazz Palaces shows, will receive the limited “Loser” edition on colored vinyl ( ...Born on a Gangster Star on aluminum;...Jealous Machines on mashed-up purple) (while supplies last).

Shabazz Palaces have extended their 2017 international tour schedule in support both Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star and Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines, which resumes this Wednesday, August 16th in Portland, Oregon at The Star Theatre and runs through November 9th-12th at Le Guess Who? “THE WAY YOU USED TO DO” VIDEO
ALL HELLZAPOPPIN’ BREAKS LOOSE IN SATANIC DANCE PRODUCTION
WRITTEN BY JOSHUA HOMME & DIRECTED BY JONAS AKERLUND
FULL VIDEO AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT http://mat-r.co/QOTSA_Video
“Dancing and headbanging are truly individualistic expressions of losing oneself fully in appreciation of music—who better to combine these things into a singular vision than someone who’s directed Madonna and Lady Gaga videos–and also happens to have been a member of Bathory?”—Joshua Homme
“The Way You Used To Do,” the recently released first single from Queens Of The Stone Age’s ominously approaching seventh albumVillains, has been realized as a fever dream Satanic dance ritual extravaganza—featuring QOTSA founder and frontman Joshua Homme lighter on his feet and darker in his soul than ever before.
Conceived by Joshua Homme, directed by Jonas Akerlund and produced by Serial Pictures, “The Way You Used To Do,” somehow fit its multiple sets, wardrobe changes and intricate dance routines into one day of shooting August 8th in Los Angeles. Considering potential reactions to the sinister shuffle of “The Way We Used To Do” being translated into a panoramic soul-selling dance trip, Homme says “It’s our way of paying tribute to Cab Calloway and the film Hellzapoppin’. I fully realize that may be a little more than some are open to, and that’s perfectly fine with me. There’s the door. If some of the more close-minded are gently pruned, that just leaves more room on the dance floor for the open-minded ones to get loose. That’s been the spirit of Queens Of The Stone Age and the space we’ve worked to create from day one.”
With recently released second track “The Evil Has Landed” hailed by Rolling Stone as “a sprawling and diabolical new rocker” featuring “Homme singing in a falsetto that sounds both sweet and sinister,”Villains was co-produced by Mark Ronson and will be released August 25th on Matador Records. The album is available now for pre-order at http://smarturl.it/Villains.
The colossal Villains tour begins September 6th with a sold out show in Port Chester NY and will see the Queens playing directly before Foo Fighters and alongside Cage The Elephant, The Kills, Liam Gallagher, Japandroids and more at the massive Cal Jam 17 October 7th at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernadino, CA. Tickets for the headline dates—which feature support from Royal Blood–are available at http://smarturl.it/QOTSALive.
Queens Of The Stone Age is Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore.

"Feels Like Summer" Closing In On Number 1 At Alternative Radio

Los Angeles, CA's Weezer will release their eleventh album, Pacific Daydream on Crush Music/Atlantic Records on October 27th, 2017.  Produced by Butch WalkerPacific Daydream is the follow up to the critically acclaimed album Weezer (The White Album),which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Album at the end of last year. Weezergave fans another peek of what's to come from the album with "Mexican Fender," a new song that debuted earlier today during Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show on Apple Music.

Following the release of Weezer (The White Album), the band began working on what they called "The Black Album," but as they worked, they found the songs they were writing felt more like reveries from a beach at the end of the world.  Instead of forcing a different direction, they began an entirely new album; Pacific Daydream was born.  FrontmanRivers Cuomo brings this decision back to a Chinese proverb he says inspired the design behind the entire record:

Once upon a time, I, Chuang Chou, dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was Chou. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.

Pacific Daydream - an album full of the melodic mastery and craftsmanship for whichWeezer are known - is a record that navigates the uncertainty between reality and dreams, blurring the line between the listener knowing if they are daydreaming the world of the album, or if the world of the album is daydreaming them.  It's a record about finding the gray area between the black and the white, about escaping the everyday into the fantasy of what may be just down the line, but also maybe isn't.  It's an album that sounds like the Beach Boys and The Clash fell in love by the ocean and had one hell of an amazing baby. It's Weezer doing all the things they do best and then some.

A track listing for Pacific Daydream is still forthcoming, however the album's current single,"Feels Like Summer," released in March, has steadily become the dark horse hit of the summer season, currently at #2 and closing in on #1 at Alternative radio, with nearly 20 million plays across streaming services and YouTube.  The song is Weezer's biggest radio hit in a decade, and will be the band's fourth #1 at Alternative radio.

A pre-order for Pacific Daydream is available HERE.  In the meantime, Weezer continue to dominate 2017's festival season, playing lauded sets across the U.S. and Canada.  Tour dates are below.

To mark the release date, Stein revealed a lyric video for the final track "Sixes & Sevens," the EP's stormiest moment. "It became bigger musically from what it was initially because we wanted it to match what it was saying," Stein says. "I'd been in a session and someone kept telling me that you can't write a song about feeling mediocre. You need to feel an extreme about something to write about it and I definitely don't agree, so Liam and I were talking about that. We wrote a song about feeling like 'I don't really know'."

Previous single releases from the EP include "Lotta U," all finger click beats, intricate lyrics and bubbling electronics, and the sultry RnB track, "One Of Those Things," which currently stands at over 700,000 views on YouTube and which also made an appearance on key influencer Spotify playlists such as Pop Justice and Disco Naiveté.

Despite a restless upbringing of traversing across continents (Berlin, Poland, and America to name but a few), the music Sonia Stein creates is beautifully anchored. Quietly determined she creates the sort of songs that are full of drama and emotional complexities.

"Lilly is as real and honest of a songwriter as they come. Fearless and thoughtful and a total joy to be around."–Michael Trent

Lilly Hiatt is set to return with Trinity Lane on August 25th, 2017. The 12-song set was produced by Michael Trent of Shovels & Rope and engineered by Andy Dixon at Trent’s Studio Bees in Johns Island, SC. In addition to her backing band, Trent is featured as a musician throughout, and is joined by his wife and Shovels & Rope partner Cary Ann Hearst for backing vocals on "Everything I Had.""Lilly is as real and honest of a songwriter as they come,” says Trent. “Fearless and thoughtful and a total joy to be around." NPR Music is premiering the full album as a “First Listen” starting today, stating, "On Trinity Lane, the third album by this fixture of Nashville's indie scene and first for New West...she's devoted to excruciatingly revealing expression, deftly manipulating the tone and perspective of her songwriting from track to track. Her treatment of pain can, remarkably, feel both considered and diaristic." They continue, "Her willingness to portray herself in moments of anger or neediness that others might deem unseemly, particularly coming from a woman, and to examine gender divisions in emotional labor at close range, is courageous and affecting.” Listen HEREPaste Magazine previously premiered the Will Morgan Holland-directed video for the album’s single "The Night David Bowie Died,” which can be seen HERE, exclaiming thatTrinity Lane is "going to be one for the books." Of the song, Hiatt offered Paste, "The night David Bowie died, I was in disbelief. I wanted to talk to someone, but it was too late to make a phone call. I cried quietly and went to bed. The next day, I picked up my guitar and hit record on Garage Band. I started to sing and those were the first words that came out. I felt like Bowie was giving me a little gift." Previously, Rolling Stone Country premiered the Michael Carter-directed video for the album’s title track HERE, stating, "The daughter of John Hiatt, she keeps the family tradition alive, mixing Southern influences - Americana, folk and left-of-center country - with a raw approach that’s better suited to the garage than the saloon. The album’s title track is no exception...the song finds Hiatt making peace with her old demons, while guitars crash and pianos chime in the background." They continued, "'Trinity Lane' is an empowerment anthem stocked with details from Hiatt’s everyday life, from the name of her street to the smell of her neighbor’s cooking." Trinity Lane will be available digitally, on compact disc, as well as LP and can be pre-ordered now via PledgeMusic. In celebration of the album’s release, Hiatt will embark on a North American headlining tour that kicks off August 24th in Lexington, KY followed by a Nashville release party on August 25th at Fond Object. She will also participate in the WEA/ADA Nashville Record Store Crawl on August 26th with an in-store performance at Grimey’s New & Preloved Music. While on tour, Hiatt will stop back through her hometown once more for an official showcase at the 18th annual AMERICANAFEST. She has also announced additional Fall dates in support of Old 97’s. Please see below for full tour details.

Hiatt’s love of the ‘90s alt-rock she was raised on shines through on Trinity Lane in the distressed guitars and urgent backbeats. She cites the Pixies, Breeders, Dinosaur Jr., and her favorite, Pearl Jam as influences, but there is also something distinctly Americana lurking in the songs. After moving out of an ex’s house, Hiatt settled into a new apartment off of Trinity Lane in her East Nashville neighborhood and went on tour with friend John Moreland to the West Coast and back. The intensely personal, autobiographical album was written largely upon her return, in isolation, facing the issues she escaped while on the road. Every time she wanted a man, she picked up her guitar. Every time she wanted a drink, she picked up her guitar. Hiatt says, "Love will take you to the darkest places but also the most honest places if you let it. Learning how to love myself is something I’ve always been lousy with, and I spent some time on that. I thought about my sobriety, what that means to me, the struggles I’d had throughout the years, since I was a 27-year-old and hung up my toxic drinking habit. I thought about my mother, who took her own life when I was a baby, not far from my age at 30 years old, and I related to her more than ever. As you can see, there was plenty of time spent on my own. I didn’t talk to that many folks, albeit a few close friends, and leaned into my family. I stayed away from men, and danced alone in the evenings, looking out my window observing my humble and lively neighborhood. I found power in being by myself. I found peace in the people I was surrounded with - we didn’t really know one another, but we smiled when passed on the street. One time I almost rear-ended an older woman in her car backing out of my driveway and I said, ‘Oh man, I’m just not used to any cars coming around this bend. She replied, ‘This is our little hideout, baby,’ And it really was." She continues, "After a while, I had all these songs to play, and wanted to share them. I wanted to get out of town to get some distance from everything, so after an ongoing conversation with Michael Trent, I took my band to Johns Island, SC and we holed up for a few weeks. I poured my heart out, and trusted them with it, and these guys gave it right back. I think we all understood what it’s like to question home, intention, demons, love...I think most people understand that."

Ardyn, the British brother/sister duo of Katy and Rob Pearson, released their new single "Throwing Stones" today along with an animated video. Created by Alden Volley (Temples, Nick Mulvey), the video is a striking accompaniment to the Gloucestershire duo's latest track. Stereogum premiered the clip today, saying the song "couches [mystic qualities] amongst a beat that almost lurches over and synths that stab (even if they stab gently). Those pieces carefully lock together and give the song a forward momentum, pushing you along into the simmering whirlwind of the chorus."

Speaking of the song, Katy Pearson says: "'Throwing Stones' was inspired by feeling very disillusioned, in particular with the current state of politics and unrest in the world. With everything seemingly going a bit haywire, I felt I needed to put that into words.  We'd also recently watched The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock which definitely stuck with me, so the song party draws from that film."

Produced with friend and collaborator Tourist, who worked alongside the band on previous single "Together,""Throwing Stones" is a darker musical home for the duo, a song with intent, focused around Katy Pearson's piercing lyrics, "You're somebody that's not like me, and I won't believe a word you speak."

Furthering their relationship with friend and producer Tourist, the band appear on his latest single "We Stayed Up All Night." The huge new track from the UK producer features Katy's unmistakable vocals. It has been receiving great plaudits, hitting #1 on the Hype Machine and featured on Spotify Viral Charts around the world.
