LOMELDA SHARES "FROM HERE"

FALL TOUR WITH PINEGROVE AND FLORIST

THX OUT 9/8 VIA DOUBLE DOUBLE WHAMMY

LISTEN TO "FROM HERE"

Lomelda has shared "From Here," the latest from her upcoming album, ThxThe FADER premiered the track, interviewed Hannah Read and called it "a warm track about distance and driving, about wanting to be found and seen." Thx is available for pre-order now and due out September 8th via Double Double Whammy.

Hannah Read, who performs under the moniker Lomelda, makes music that is textural and spacious. Her words are suggestive snapshots of loosely knitted observations, depicting quiet moments between friends and lovers and half-remembered celestial occurrences. In her songs, the memory of the past and glimpses of future stretch out on either side of you, and the present is unsteady and always shifting.

Lomelda is hitting the road with Pinegrove and Florist this fall. All dates below.

LISTEN TO THE ALBUM'S PREVIOUS SINGLES

ABOUT LOMELDA:
If you were to ask Hannah Read what Lomelda means, you'd probably end up with some kind of non-answer and a new topic. It is a guarded secret reserved for those who really pry. It is a high school attempt at describing something vast and powerful yet uniquely quiet and complex. And it is ever-changing. Lomelda is about memory, intimacy, and the tragedies of distance. As a band, it has appeared in several forms over the years, but always, to Hannah, Lomelda has been about discovering friendship and connection. Close collaborators have become closer friends. And when you see Lomelda, when you hear it, it is apparent that Hannah cares deeply about the connection made with the people on stage, the connection with you.

LEE RANALDO

RELEASES ACOUSTIC SESSION OF
“THROWN OVER THE WALL”

NEW ALBUM ELECTRIC TRIM
OUT SEPTEMBER 15
Photo: Alex Rademakers
“We smuggle facts inside a magazine
Interpret sadness as shame
We swung a hammer to teach them to believe
Bury the lede behind the frame”

LEE RANALDO has shared an acoustic session version of “Thrown Over The Wall,” the third track to be taken from his brand new album, Electric Trim, out on September 15, 2017.

Ranaldo explains, “This is a song for the resistance: We use a telescope to measure great distances, a micrometer or microscope to explore minutia. The scale is vast, from infinite to infinitesimal; we humans but a momentary blip on the cosmic timeline. Last of your kind? RESIST / Eyes Ahead / Inclusion not Exclusion / RESIST.”

The acoustic version of “Thrown Over The Wall” was recorded in Prague and Rome during Ranaldo’s 2016 tour, and edited by Lee Ranaldo. Lyrics for the track were written by the author Jonathan Lethem and Lee Ranaldo.

Watch the session video here.

Electric Trim was recorded in New York City and Barcelona in collaboration with producer Raül ‘Refree’ Fernandez and extends the work of Ranaldo's solo canon, the most recent being his 2013 album, Last Night On Earth.

Through his collaboration with Fernandez, Ranaldo moves into some rich new sonic territories and production techniques, experimenting with electronic beats and samples alongside live players.

Ranaldo is a co-founder of Sonic Youth, a visual artist, producer and writer. In addition to Fernandez, he worked with several special guests on Electric Trim, including Sharon Van Etten who sings on six of the tracks and duets on “Last Looks” and Kid Millions (aka Man Forever) as well as longtime friend and collaborator Nels Cline (Wilco). In addition, the album features Ranaldo’s band The Dust (fellow Sonic Youth member Steve Shelley, guitarist Alan Licht, and bassist Tim Luntzel).

Ranaldo collaborated with award winning New York author Jonathan Lethem (Motherless Brooklyn/The Fortress of Solitude) for lyrics on six of the songs and the American artist Richard Prince, who previously painted the sleeve for Sonic Youth’s 2004 album Sonic Nurse, created the artwork for the album.

A feature length documentary, HELLO HELLO HELLO : LEE RANALDO : ELECTRIC TRIM, on the year-long making of the album by filmmakers Fred Riedel and Jerry Fried will be touring select film festivals in Europe and the US in 2017. Confirmed festivals include the New Jersey Film Festival on album release day, September 15, Fonomo Music and Film Festival in Poland and Gig Harbor Film Festival in Seattle in October and London Doc ‘n Roll festival in November. Further details to follow.

Festival to Feature Live Music, Comedy, Film and more!

New York, NY - August 17, 2017 - The Seaport Music Festival is now accepting press applications to its 15th anniversary celebration in partnership with The Village Voice and South Street Seaport Museum!  The Seaport Music Festival has been gathering New Yorkers and tourists alike with authentic programming in a unique setting for the past 15 years. The festival will continue that legacy with an eye on the future, while also celebrating the rich history of this awe-inspiring venue in Lower Manhattan. With the 50th anniversary of the museum together with the 15th anniversary of the festival, it is an amazing time and opportunity to tell this story. For more information, please visit: http://www.seaportmusicfestival.com/.

Reflecting on the festival's history, founder Stephen Dima explains, "The Seaport Music Festival is a NY institution. It was a scruffy little festival that could, and that on many occasions, DID. It became a place where you could see bands that nobody else was going to take a chance on in a unique and relatively undiscovered part of Lower Manhattan."

In addition to live music, Seaport Music Festival will feature film screenings, comedy and dance. This year's lineup includes performances by:

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, who's self releasing his first album since 2010 called The Hanged Man, and who incidentally has a long, infamous history with the Seaport Music Festival, having performed at the inaugural fest in 2002 plus 5 other subsequent years. At this year's festival, Ted curated a special lineup which includes: comedic, musical and visual artist Jean Grae, heavy-beat minded electronic duo Azar Swan and NYC DIY rock'n'rollers Big Huge. Hosted by Dap.

New York Night Train DJ Jonathan Toubin has also been invited to curate a line-up, which features The Make-Up, a seminal post-punk band from DC led by Ian Svenonius who announced highly anticipated reunion shows this year. The line-up also includes Martin Rev (The surviving half of one of the most important bands of all time, Suicide), James Chance & The Contortions, The Wolfmanhattan Project, Death Valley Girls, Surfbort and Warm Drag. The acts here are not bonded together through genre but through social relationships and the kind of subterranean aesthetic that built the downtown music culture that changed the world, and became globally ubiquitous, but is rapidly disappearing without a trace from its Manhattan incubator. Seaport Music Festival and New York Night Train combine in their shared mission to keep downtown's underground music heritage alive and in its hometown.

The Dance Cartel: Premiere of Wet Clutch, an immersive drive-in dance experience that reinterprets and remixes movie heroines from the last four decades of American film, made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement/Creative Learning, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

"The Village Voice has covered and been a part of some of the most iconic cultural moments in New York City's history,"said Kerrie Gillis, Chief Revenue Officer of The Village Voice. "Our partnership with theSeaport Music Festival continues that tradition, granting thousands of Voice readers and music fans access to the best the city has to offer at one of NYC's most historic venues."

Captain Jonathan Boulware, Executive Director of the South Street Seaport Museum, cited the long connection between the Museum and music over its fifty year history. "In the earliest years of the Seaport Museum, artists like Pete Seeger and others sang on the pier for lunchtime crowds. For years Pier 16 on the East River has been a place to hear music and to connect through that music to the origins of New York itself."

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, South Street Seaport Museum is a cultural institution dedicated to telling the story of the rise of New York as a port city and its critical role in the development of the United States. The Museum uses its historic buildings and ships to provide interactive exhibits, education, and experiences.

The festival will also feature locally sourced foods from the Fulton Stall Market and oysters from Empire Oyster.

One Manhattan Square, a modern glass vertical village at 220 South Street, under development by Extell Development Company, will join as a sponsor of the anniversary celebration.

Attracting thousands of attendees each year, Seaport Music Festival has previously showcased performers such as Animal Collective, Suicide, Angelique Kidjo, Hot Chip and many more. For more information, please visit: http://www.seaportmusicfestival.com/

"Sleep Well Beast is a towering achievement." - Under the Radar

ALVVAYS RELEASE NEW SONG "PLIMSOLL PUNKS"

ANTISOCIALITES OUT ON SEPTEMBER 8TH
ON POLYVINYL

Alvvays will drop their highly anticipated sophomore album in under a month and the Toronto-based group are giving us another taste of new music with the infectious "Plimsoll Punks." The song is the band's answer to Television Personalities''Part-Time Punks' and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend.

The previously released tracks "In Undertow" and "Dreams Tonite" show a band on the brink of releasing their best material yet, Pitchfork notes on "Dreams Tonite" that the "new sound nods to the Chromatics and Beach House, touching upon their moody temperament while fleshing out their emotional explorations." Rolling Stonepraised "In Undertow" in their Playlist section writing "Canadian guitar romantics Alvvays mix pleasant noises and chill dejection, and the result is a perfect indie-rock lullaby."

Alvvays will be touring the world extensively in support of Antisocialites this fall playing shows with Jay Som and Nap Eyes. The North American tour is selling quickly with several dates including Portland and DC already sold out.

Early Acclaim For Antisocialites:

"Alvvays never second-guess their core strength: anthemic, arm-swaying hooks that aim for the stars even when the sky is gray." Pitchfork

"The band has kept their rivers of reverb, which sometimes makes them sound as though they're playing to an empty middle-school gymnasium, an image that fittingly blends sweetness with melancholy." Vulture

"Lead single "In Undertow" contains all of the elements that were initially so charming about the Toronto five-piece blown up to fuzzy and dreamy new heights." Stereogum

"It's a heart-swelling three minutes, and further proof that the band's sophomore LP could be one of the fall season's best." Consequence of Sound on "Dreams Tonite"

"The great thing about Alvvays is that they know what they do well - create objectively good, beautiful indie pop - and they are evidently doing it again with Antisocialites"Uproxx

"A very nice dose of their melodic, emotional indie pop, complete with a shoegazy guitar solo." Brooklyn Vegan on "In Undertow"

"More  lovelorn sun-spotted jangly jams done in only the charming way the Toronto quartet know how." My Old Kentucky Blog

Sketches Of Brunswick East is a soothing balm of a record; an aural salve to be tenderly applied to the world’s damaged collective psyche. It is a chance to show their sunny, playful side. Where previous albums have slipped down sonic worm-holes to explore distant galaxies, this one is an examination of (and homage to) the Melbourne suburb in which King Gizzard write and record in their own studio, and from where they run their planet- spanning psychedelic operation.
“I think we hit it off because our approaches are very different...yet similar. We always talked about working together and after Gizzfest last year I said to Alex [Brettin, of Mild High Club] ‘Why not stick around and make a record?’ So he stayed at my house for three weeks and most days were spent in the studio making music with the rest of the guys. Jazz seeped into it, and we were listening to compilations of Ethiopian music from the 1960s and 70s a lot. It was in no way thought-out though. If Murder Of The Universe was our most conceptual and arranged album - then Sketches... is the exact opposite.”  - Stu Mackenzie, KGATLW
The title could be perceived as both a knowing nod towards Miles Davis’s Sketches Of Spain (whose fusion of American jazz, European classical and Spanish song structures gave us one of the 20th century’s most important albums), and the sketchy on-the-hop, improvised nature of its creation by these gnarly and feral Aussie dudes. It also sees the band further exploring the Tropicalia element only ever previously hinted at. Stu explains that a change of pace and tempo was necessary after “a concurrent period of productivity, a ball of energy and ideas”. Logistically, its creation saw the sifting through “piles of ideas” previously laid down during intense periods of creation that their frontman confesses he barely remembers having taken place. Truly this is impulsive music, sketches of time and place reworked and pieced together, akin to, says Stu “sampling-culture, in which old ideas are reshaped and suddenly things make sense. It was like we were continually jamming with ourselves.”

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart shares new single, "My Only" via Billboard - album due Sept. 1

STREAM: "My Only" -
Billboard / SoundCloud

Today the Pains of Being Pure at Heart shares "My Only," the third single from its recently announced fourth album, The Echo of Pleasure, over at Billboard. The album, due Sept. 1 (digital) and Sept. 15 on CD, vinyl & cassette, on the band's own Painbow label - is available for pre-order here in all formats. The band also has a NYC show and west coast dates in September (see full list of dates below).
Bio:
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have long set the benchmark for big-hearted, idealistic pop songs. With The Echo of Pleasure, The Pains push beyond their many inspirations and embrace their role as indiepop heroes in their own right. Showcasing the deft songwriting of frontman Kip Berman, The Pains’ fourth album is their most confident and accomplished. After three critically-acclaimed records, 2009’s The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, 2011’s Belong and 2014’s Days of Abandon received praise from The New York Times, Pitchfork, The Guardian and Rolling Stone, they have put together a collection of songs that possess a timeless grandeur, deeper and more satisfying than anything the band has done since their iconic debut.
Berman enlisted Days of Abandon producer Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, The Killers) to help him record a Pains record like none-other. “The logistics of it were so different. When I recorded the record, my wife was six months pregnant. We only had a limited amount of time. There was an absolute uncertainty hanging over our heads, but it was also a kind of escape from worry for that time,” he explains. “What’s going to happen when I have a kid? Am I going to be able to go on tour? Is this the last record I’m going to get to make? It’s not a bad thing to be worried when you’re expecting this huge transition of life. If you didn’t feel scared, you’re probably not feeling the right emotion. I tried to make the best record I could, knowing it might be the last time.”
The Echo of Pleasure navigates variability and safety without unraveling. Berman is no stranger to fragility; here, it’s structured with warmth, the kind found after life-altering moments. It’s reflected in the album title, too: “The Echo of Pleasure could be the near-symmetry of love,” he explains. “It’s the reflection back and forth, modulating over time, of two people who are together. It’s not a mirror - but a perpetual answering and asking. When one person is absent, that echo ceases or, as the title track laments, ‘fades into these silent days.’ In that sense, remembering is a kind of echo, each instance slightly less vivid than the one before.”
The record is augmented by guest vocals featuring previous Pains collaborators: Jen Goma on “So True” (A Sunny Day in Glasgow), bass guitar by Jacob Danish Sloan (Dream Diary), and horns by Kelly Pratt (Beirut, David Byrne, St. Vincent). The Pains of Being Pure at Heart live band consists of long-time guitarist Christoph Hochheim (Ablebody, ex-Depreciation Guild), bassist Jacob Danish Sloan, drummer Chris Schackerman (ex-Mercury Girls, ex-Literature) and vocalist/keyboardist Jess Rojas. The Echo of Pleasure arrives Sept. 1

Carry Fire, his eleventh solo album and first full-length release since 2014's acclaimed lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar, was produced by Plant in the west of England and Wales, at Top Cat studio in Box, Wiltshire with additional recordings at Real World and Rockfield studios. As withlullaby, Plant is accompanied by The Sensational Space Shifters: John Baggott on keyboards, moog, loops, percussion, drums, brass arrangement, t'bal, snare drum, slide guitar, piano, electric piano, bendir; Justin Adams on guitar, acoustic guitar, oud, E-bow quartet, percussion, snare drum, tambourine; Dave Smith on bendir, tambourine, djembe, drum kit; and Liam "Skin" Tyson on dobro, guitar, acoustic guitar, pedal steel, twelve-string.

Plant and the Space Shifters are also joined on Carry Fire by a number of special guests. Albanian cellist Redi Hasa performs on three tracks, as does the celebrated Seth Lakeman on viola and fiddle.

Plant and the Space Shifters (which now includes Lakeman) will celebrate Carry Fire's release by beginning a world tour in November 2017 starting in UK & Ireland and touring all corners of globe from thereon. Dates will be announced soon; for updates, please visit www.robertplant.com.

Plant and the band spent two years on the road together supporting lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar, their unique sound and vision ultimately evolving into something even more creative and powerful.

Plant, who lived in Texas for a time before returning to his native England three years ago, together with his friends, present the songs Carry Fire, melding unusual rhythms with naturalism and smoldering power.

"It's about intention, I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work. I must mix old with new. Consequently the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation".

lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar (Nonesuch/Warner Bros. Records) made top ten debuts around the globe upon its release, from the US's SoundScan/Billboard 200 to album charts in Belgium, Canada, Finland, Hungary, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Along with its international commercial appeal, lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar drew rave reviews from such high profile media outlets as NPR Music, which named it to their "50 Favorite Albums of 2014," noting, "(Plant) is still a majestic rock presence, at peace with the legacy of his hard-rock-defining band Led Zeppelin, while remaining relentlessly creative in his solo work... (The album) lovingly layers elements in ways that mirror memory, creating new constructs from floating shards of the musical past.""Robert Plant knows where rock's past begins and he's pulling it into the future," wrote the Wall Street Journal while the New York Times praised the singer's "otherworldly voice: sustained, androgynous, balanced between serenity and ache."

Britain's Guardian declared lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar to be "fantastic: gritty, dark, and satisfying" while also making special mention of Plant's "hugely impressive backing band, the Sensational Space Shifters... There's something almost alchemical about their ability to draw together incongruent musical influences into something coherent and exciting." Pitchfork called Lullaby "the most bravely confessional writing of his career."

----------

Award-winning British band Everything Everything release their highly anticipated fourth studio album,A Fever Dream today. Produced by James Ford (Florence + The Machine, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode) features energy filled, intelligent socio-pop gems such as “Can’t Do” (watch the video HERE) and their most recent single, “Desire.” Check out the Dave Tree-directed clip HEREA Fever Dream serves as the follow up to Everything Everything’s critically acclaimed 2015 album, Get To Heaven.

Across three albums, immense acclaim and intense adoration, the sound of Everything Everything has remained a volatile beast; a musical bucking bronco, their albums maximalist, frenetic, art-pop juxtapositions of R’n’B and melancholia and Afrobeat, of synths, guitars, falsetto. Critics have written of the frenzy of it, of the sheer sublime sweet sensory overload of it all. Their fourth album, A Fever Dream, is a quite different prospect: a calibration of chaos and control, the result of a curious desire for consistency. As guitarist Alex Robertshaw puts it: “Our records have been many styles rubbing up against each other, and for the first time I wanted to make a record that was cohesive sonically.”

Midway through touring with Get To Heaven, Robertshaw found himself listening increasingly to the kind of electronic music he had loved as a teenager — early Warp Records releases, Aphex Twin,AutechreBoards of Canada, relishing “the atmosphere and the attitude” of them. “I wanted to go back to that thing that first made me excited about music,” he says. “We’ve spent a lot of time going into that R’n’B and hip hop world — for an indie band it was a bit of an untouchable thing, and it was really fun to do and I think we captured it at its best with Kemosabe and Arc. But once you start doing that you kind of separate yourself.”

In talking about the new album’s sound, singer Jonathan Higgs explains “It’s kind of a mixture of the sounds of our adolescence I suppose - the electronic stuff mixed with American heavy bands of the early-mid 90s. As a result, there’s also a lot of adolescent riffy guitar-playing on the album. Guitar music is really where we came from, all of us. Then we grew up a bit and it went out of fashion, but really that’s what excites us hugely. And because we always had a plan on not being like that early on it feels really good to do it now.”

While bassist Jeremy Pritchard and drummer Michael Spearman joined later in the studio under the watchful eye of producer James Ford, the album began with Higgs and Robertshaw, Everything Everything’s principal songwriters. This has been their most collaborative record to date, seeing the pair working together on every track, with Higgs’s more dramatic pop sensibilities tempered by what he simply describes as Robertshaw’s “cool”.

In many ways A Fever Dream is the logical thematic successor to Get To Heaven’s exploration of rolling news culture — a portrait of a world grown relentless and unfathomable, whatever your nationality or political persuasion. “I really didn’t want to be too explicit about world events,” Higgs says. “Everyone’s pretty aware of what is going on. But I wanted to make a record about how this has all affected us, not just me and you, but everyone around us. I think people come to us for a sense of recognition. They want to hear someone else say what they’re feeling. And that’s what I’ve always gone to music for, and I hope that’s what we put out - the ‘Do you feel like me?’ message, rather than anything more concrete. It doesn’t interest me to be preachy, it just turns everybody off, including me.”

One track, “Ivory Tower,” is a particularly striking reflection of the times — a spewing-forth of what Robertshaw politely terms “a lot of hugely unacceptable language” in a portrait of an increasingly faceless and impersonal world. “’Ivory Tower’ deals with very extreme stuff,” says Higgs. “It’s a reaction to the nasty side of everything we’ve had lately, like all the stuff on immigration. But I’m not looking at it objectively I’m going right in there and saying lots of awful things that everyone’s saying at each other - so I’m having a go at the liberal elite and I’m having a go at the small-minded racists, all this stuff at the same time. And it’s just this rage, this really fast, violent song. And it’s a way to get all that horrible shit out of us. And when you hear it on the record it does just sound like someone kicking down your door. But I’m not setting out my stall — it’s a photograph of now, a snapshot of how it feels to be alive at the moment.”

A Fever Dream is a rare and quite remarkable achievement: an album that is charged and political, that takes the temperature of the times, that will surely stand as one of the year’s most important albums, yet on a most visceral level is arresting, beautiful, tender, and thoroughly, irresistibly danceable. It is that exceptional kind of record that demands cerebral, emotional and physical response — as Higgs says: “You shouldn’t be sitting down the first time you hear it.”

Currently in the midst of a sold out UK tour, Everything Everything recently announced a run of North American tour dates, kicking off in San Francisco October 9th, with the band making scheduled stops in Los Angeles, New York City, Washington, D.C. and Boston. Elephant Stone Announce New Remix EP.
Unveil Young Galaxy remix of ‘The Devil’s Shelter’
‘Remix of Fools’ follows their critically acclaimed album Ship of Fools. The EP is out September 18th.

"[Ship of Fools]... furthers the band's groovy, danceable psychedelic mission." - BrooklynVegan

"Elephant Stone are the crown jewels of Montreal psych rock." - Exclaim!

Montreal psych-rock trio Elephant Stone have announced new remix album, featuring members of Young Galaxy, TOY, Caribou, Tahiti 80 and more. The album follows the release of the band’s recent full length
Ship of Fools- out now on Elephants On Parade/Burger Records. The renditions found on ‘Remix of Fools’ intensify the moments of infectious rhythm, highlight the swirling atmospherics, amplify the hidden hooks, and take the songs into unexpected and uncharted territory.
Speaking about Young Galaxy’s remix frontman Rishi Dhir says:
“Stephen Ramsay (Young Galaxy) and I have known each other for years. We initially met when I was recording the first Elephant Stone album “The Seven Seas” in 2008 at Breakglass Studios with Jace Lasek. Jace had recorded Young Galaxy’s debut and Stephen would stop by the studio. Fast forward 5 years later and I would run into Stephen while playing with our kids in the local park. We’d always end up talking about music and gear. I appreciated Young Galaxy’s shift into more electronic territory and mentioned in passing my bubbling obsession with Acid House and how I’d always wanted to create an Acid House-meets-raga album… So, when we finally released Ship of Fools, he was the first person I contacted for a remix. From our conversations, I knew he understood what I wanted this remix to be… and he nailed it. Funny enough, this track was the springboard for our collaboration on the future “Elephant Stone presents Acid House Ragas”...."
Formed in 2009 by Dhir (singer/bassist/songwriter/sitar) accompanied by Miles Dupire (drummer/backing vox) and Gabriel Lambert (guitar/backing vox), the band has proven to be innovators who are unafraid of challenging themselves and their audience. Elephant Stone have toured alongside prominent acts such as Beck, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Horrors. They continue to solidify their place in the burgeoning psych rock scene with an impressive sequence of releases. Most recently,
Ship of Fools presented a new Elephant Stone emphasizing catchy grooves and vocal melodies that smack of both infectious pop and dance, and the new remix EP takes five songs off of that release and illuminates them into even more trippy, ecstatic and dancefloor-ready light.

Gabrielle Shonk

Announces Self-Titled Debut Album
Out 9/29 On Universal Music Canada

Debuts New Track “Raindrops” With W Magazine

“Shonk sounds like an amalgamation of the past 20 years of star female songstresses ...”
VICE’s Noisey

Last year, Quebec indie-folk singer/songwriter Gabrielle Shonk self-released her first single “Habit.” The track spread like wildfire, grabbing the the attention of VICE’s Noisey who likened Shonk’s vocals to a mix of Alicia Keys, Fiona Apple and Amy Winehouse. Today, Shonk is debuting a new track “Raindrops” via W Magazine from her highly anticipated self-titled debut album out September 29th on Universal Music Canada.
Gabrielle Shonk’s debut album is announced on the heels of her recently released Habit single package, which includes the original single (“habit” currently has over one million streams on Spotify, and the track’s music videohas 154k views and counting), an acoustic version of the track, and brand new French single, “Trop Tard.” Although this is Shonk’s first record, she’s been writing songs since she was fourteen years old. "Sometimes the sound of a guitar on a recording inspires me to write a song,” Shonk explains. “Before chords or lyrics, I begin with a melody. This record is just pretty personal and sums up a bunch of musical influences and songs I’ve carried over the years,”Shonk explains. The album was produced by Simon Pedneault at Wild Studio, La Strip, Planet Studios, and Studio Dandurand in Canada.

Gabrielle Shonk is the natural product of a creative household, raised by a blues-musician father and artist mother in Quebec City. She started singing at a very young age and began writing her own songs as a teenager, soulfully guided by favorites such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, and Tracy Chapman. Singing in both English and French, music quickly became Shonk’s universal language. Her musical craft took hold as she went on to study Jazz in University, where she later earned a degree in music. Shonk recently opened for fellow Canadian singer/songwriter Bobby Bazini as well as Rag N Bone Man, Hannah Georgas, Milky Chance and P!nk. This summer, she’s performed at Montreal Jazz Festival, Wayhome Festival, and is currently in the middle of a North American tour. See full list of tour dates below.

High and Low Festival comes from the mind of Andy Serrao, producer of many successful Southern California festivals and owner of Chain Reaction. A reflection of both Serrao's personal listening tastes and the very nature of music, he says the festival's name has multiple meanings. "Sonically, music has highs and lows, and emotional highs and lows, and with the California topography, we have the mountains, the desert and the ocean," says Serrao. "The name High & Low fit for us, with the vision for where we wanted to go. Great music has got me through every aspect of my life. With every high and every low, came a soundtrack in my head that defined my life. This festival is a good representation of artists that do this for myself, and tons of other people."

High and Low concertgoers can expect a festival with a coherent, cohesive identity, crafted by someone who truly understands what makes a live performance great.

AMERICAN DREAM OUT SEPTEMBER 1 ON COLUMBIA RECORDS/DFA
LCD Soundsystem has released a third track from its eagerly anticipated fourth album AMERICAN DREAM: Having premiered today via Apple Music as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1, “tonite” has been a staple of the LCD live set since its debut performance in April—which moved STEREOGUM to laud it as “an instant classic LCD song. A hardened disco synth line and unrelenting beat push the whole thing forward, making it one of those LCD semi-epics.”
“tonite” will be included with pre-orders placed at http://smarturl.it/americandream along with “call the police” and “american dream,” which were released May 5.
“tonite” has also become the first proper video from American Dream. Directed by Joel Kefali and shot in Melbourne, Australia, the clip can be viewed at  http://smarturl.it/tonitevideo.
AMERICAN DREAM will be released September 1 digitally and on vinyl and CD via Columbia Records/DFA, with a special cassette edition available exclusively through DFA. The album will consist of the following songs:oh baby

Grizzly Bear Releases Fifth Studio Album 'Painted Ruins' Today via RCA Records

WATCH GRIZZLY BEAR PERFORM "MOURNING SOUND" ON COLBERT HERE:https://youtu.be/10YiE3zzHpM

Today, Grizzly Bear has released their first album in five years 'Painted Ruins', via RCA Records. The New York Times praised 'Painted Ruins,' saying Grizzly Bear "pushes its music further both inward and outward, toward the cryptic and toward the voluptuous," while the Wall Street Journal called it "a forceful and appealing work."
Last night, the band also performed lead single "Mourning Sound" for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, watch the full performance here: https://youtu.be/10YiE3zzHpM
'Painted Ruins' has earned widespread praise from NPR Music and Rolling Stone who called the music "spellbinding." USA Today said the album is their "densest, most confessional work yet" in their 4/4 star review and Consequence of Sound said "'Painted Ruins' is a wondrously complex adventure that rewards attention and patience." Esquire called 'Painted Ruins'"their most mature album yet" and SPIN declared that "Grizzly Bear have struck gold." In their 9/10 review, Under The Radar said, "the album is the sound of a band cohering as never before with a formidable swagger," and the album has earned 4/5 stars from Mojo and Q Magazine plus 9/10 stars from Clash and Uncut. Paste Quarterly declared, "Grizzly Bear made an album for the times; something wild and alive, bucking assumptions and beaming color, their best yet."
Next week the band will play an intimate, sold-out show at New York City's Public Arts to celebrate the release of 'Painted Ruins.' Grizzly Bear will embark on a worldwide headlining tour in support of 'Painted Ruins' this fall- full itinerary below.

DUA LIPA “NEW RULES” #1 IN THE UK

VIDEO PASSES 100 MILLION VIEWS IN 40 DAYS

CURRENTLY #6 ON GLOBAL SPOTIFY CHART

SUPPORTING BRUNO MARS ON TOUR THIS FALL
Dua Lipa has reached a major milestone today, with “New Rules” reaching #1 on the UK charts. This is the first UK number one single by a female solo artist since Adele’s “Hello” in 2015. In addition, the video for “New Rules” has amassed over 100 million views in just 40 days. The track is currently streaming over 8 million times a day, and is sitting at #6 on the Global Spotify Chart. “New Rules” will impact at U.S. radio on August 22nd. Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2qgadSvNyU.

Dua released the video for “New Rules” earlier this summer with an overwhelming response from fans and the press alike. Buzzfeed declared ““New Rules," is not only your new summer anthem but also the video is a cinematic masterpiece” and PAPER raved “we’re in love with her self-empowered summer vibes.”

The response from fans inspired Dua to call on them to upload covers and lip syncs of “New Rules” online, tagging #DuasNewRules, resulting in a collaboration video showcasing how the song has connected Dua with her fans. Watch #DuasNewRules hereThe track also inspired some expertly executed parodies, like Instagram user @jakewil’s version, which you can see here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efTl8sNKHv8.

This September, Dua will return to the U.S. to play 10 shows as the supporting act on Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour.
